Dental Endowment

In May 2004, the Montcalm Healthy Smiles Endowment Fund was established by the Stanton Dental Care Center Advisory Board and the Mid-Michigan District Health Department.

The Stanton Dental Care Center was opened in September 2000 to serve the oral health needs of Montcalm County’s Medicaid patients. Over the past four years, the number of Medicaid-eligible children in Montcalm County increased 69%, from 3,094 in January 2000 to 5,239 in May 2004. Without the existence of the Stanton Dental Care Center, there would be no local comprehensive dental care option for these children.

To date, the dental center has been financially supported through Medicaid reimbursement for services and community contributions. The majority of community support has been singular in nature and not intended for long-term, ongoing operations. The Montcalm Healthy Smiles Endowment Fund, which will be administered by the Greenville Area Community Foundation, was created to ensure that this valuable community resource is sustained.
